The latest news on Nyesom Wike reaching us from the guardian is that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) did rise from a meeting conducted yesterday and resolved to establish a panel to settle the post-primaries crises tossing the party.
The Board of Trustees members gathered and raised concerns over the condition in which the North continues to occupy top leadership positions in the party at the expanse of the South, stating that it won’t promote peace in the party.
This happened as some Board of Trustees members, loyal to the River State governor; Nyesom Wike boycotted the meeting.
In a briefing with journalists at the end of the meeting, the former deputy leader of the Senate, Abdul Ningi, opened up that the peace committee includes all members of the Board of Trustees. He alleged that the committee had started its work by immediately paying a visit to the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
In the quote, he said: “We have set up this committee to interface between warring factions, particularly the acrimony that is taking place between the presidential candidate and Wike. Every Board of Trustees member is a member of the committee. I cannot tell you the grievances and the time frame.”
On calls for the national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu to step down, Ningi aforementioned: “We have not even discussed any issue of anybody stepping down. We discussed what we discussed, and what we discussed was what I told you.”
On the other hand, calls for the removal of Ayu took another shape, as ‘Ayu must go’ protesters, yesterday, stormed the party’s national secretariat.
The protesters claimed that Ayu cannot lead PDP to victory in 2023 because of the way he had reportedly mismanaged its dealings in Delta State. There have been brawling court orders regarding the aspirant of the People Democratic Party in the state.
